Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 Tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp fish sauce
  • 3 large cloves garlic minced
  • 3 Tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 5 Tbsp coconut aminos
  • 1 Tbsp sriracha optional
  • 4 Tbsp rice vinegar
  • Sea salt and black pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Method

  1. Start by preparing the marinade. In a small bowl, stir together the avocado oil, sesame oil, fish sauce, minced garlic, and pure maple syrup. The mixture should be well blended, creating a vibrant and aromatic marinade.
  2. Chop the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and place them in a ziplock bag or a sealable container. Pour in ⅔ cup of the marinade, ensuring the chicken is well coated.
  3. Seal the bag tightly and shake or massage it gently to ensure every piece of chicken is covered in the marinade. This step is crucial for flavor penetration. Marinate for at least 20 minutes in the refrigerator; however, if time allows, marinating for several hours or overnight is ideal.
  4. When you're ready to cook, preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 3 to 5 minutes. This step ensures the chicken starts cooking immediately when placed in the basket.
  5. Transfer half of the marinated chicken to the air fryer basket, arranging it in a single layer. If your air fryer is large enough, you can add all the chicken at once.
  6. Air fry the chicken at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 8 to 12 minutes, turning or shaking the basket halfway through for even cooking. The chicken should be golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Once done, carefully remove the chicken and repeat the process with the remaining pieces if necessary. It's better to cook in batches than overcrowd the basket.
  8. Serve your delicious Asian Air Fryer Chicken Bites with the reserved marinade as a dipping sauce. The contrast of flavors is delightful!
  9. Enjoy your meal and watch as everyone devours these crispy, flavorful bites!

Notes

  • Storage: Store any leftover chicken bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days to maintain freshness.
  • Freezing: You can freeze the cooked chicken bites for up to a month. Just reheat them in the air fryer for a crispy result.
  • Pairing: Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad to balance the meal.
  • Spice Level: Adjust the sriracha to your preferred heat level or omit it entirely for a milder flavor.
  • Low-Carb Option: Replace maple syrup with a sugar-free sweetener if you're following a keto or low-carb diet.
