Method
- In a large bowl, combine avocados and lime juice and mix until coated.
- Add kosher salt, ground cumin, cayenne, and mash the avocado mixture using a potato masher or the back of a spoon.
- Fold in tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalapeño and garlic.
- Add additional lime juice over the top to help keep guacamole from browning. Serve with tortilla chips.
Notes
- Storage: Homemade Guacamole usually lasts up to 2 days. When you see a puddle of brown liquid and the layers below the surface have lost their vibrant green color, it’s time to throw it out.
- Freezing: Freezing Guacamole is possible! Just make sure to portion it into airtight containers. It can last up to 3 months. Allow it to thaw in the fridge overnight before serving.
- Pairing: Serve Guacamole with tortilla chips for a classic combo, or use it as a topping for tacos and burritos for added flavor.
- Ripening: If your avocados are not ripe enough, leave them at room temperature in a brown paper bag. This helps speed up the ripening process.
- Customization: Don't hesitate to customize your Guacamole with spices like smoked paprika or hot sauce for a different flavor kick.
