Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup Italian Panko bread crumbs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ cup yellow onion, diced
  • cup ketchup
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons prepared yellow mustard

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls
  • Loaf Pan
  • Meat thermometer
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • Liquid Measuring Cup
  • Whisk
  • Silicone spatula

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a loaf pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients for the Meatloaf: ground beef, eggs, Panko bread crumbs, milk, seasoned salt, garlic powder, ground black pepper, diced onion, ketchup, brown sugar, and prepared yellow mustard. Mix until everything is well combined, but be careful not to overmix as it can affect the texture.
  3. Once mixed, transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan. Pat it down into an even layer to ensure it cooks evenly. The surface should be smooth, and the sides should be neat.
  4. In a small bowl, combine additional ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard for the sauce. Mix until combined. This sauce will add a delicious glaze to the meatloaf.
  5. Spread the sauce evenly over the top of the meat mixture in the loaf pan. Use a spatula to ensure it covers the entire surface.
  6. Now, place the loaf pan in the preheated oven. Bake for about 1 to 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep an eye on it and use a meat thermometer if you have one.
  7. Once done, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it stand for about 10 minutes. This resting time allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a moist meatloaf.
  8. Finally, cut the meatloaf into slices. Serve it warm, and enjoy the comforting blend of flavors!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. You can freeze slices of meatloaf for quick meals; just thaw and reheat in the oven or microwave. Serve it with mashed potatoes and green vegetables for a complete meal. Consider adding chopped herbs or spices like thyme or rosemary for an extra flavor kick. Experiment with different sauces like BBQ or teriyaki for a twist on the traditional glaze.
