Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ½ cup dark brown sugar light may be substituted
  • ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1 can Pillsbury Biscuit Dough
  • about 6 ounces salted caramel sauce I used just over half of a 10-ounce jar of Trader Joe’s; or make it here
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons cinnamon or to taste

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. While it's heating, prepare your 9-inch pie dish by spraying it with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. In a medium microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter for about 1 minute on high power. You want it just melted, not boiling.
  3. Add the dark brown sugar to the melted butter and whisk until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Mix in the salt to enhance the flavors. This combination will form a delicious caramel base for your buns.
  5. Pour the butter and sugar mixture into your prepared pie dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
  6. Open the can of Pillsbury Biscuit Dough and gently press the seams together to form one long piece. Be careful not to over-handle it; the less you touch the dough, the better it will rise!
  7. Drizzle the salted caramel sauce evenly over the dough, using your judgment on how much you’d like. The more, the merrier!
  8. Sprinkle cinnamon generously over the caramel, adjusting to your taste. This adds warmth and depth to your buns.
  9. Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough into a tightly bound log. Make sure it's snug but not overly tight.
  10. To slice the dough log into segments, I recommend using unwaxed dental floss. This method makes for clean cuts without squishing the dough. Aim for about 9 rolls.
  11. Transfer the sliced dough segments to the pie dish, ensuring they are evenly spaced out for even baking.
  12. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes. The buns should feel firm to the touch and the caramel should be bubbly. You’ll know they’re ready!
  13. Let the buns cool in the pan overnight, if possible, to let the caramel soak in. You can invert them for serving, or simply spoon the sauce over the top. Enjoy fresh, though they keep well at room temperature for up to 4 days!
