Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 24 ounces tuna steaks Fresh and sushi-grade.
  • 1/4 cup ponzu sauce
  • 1 tablespoon wasabi paste Use more or less to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon coconut cream
  • 2 teaspoons coconut aminos

Method

  1. Marinate the tuna in ponzu for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat olive oil in skillet over medium high heat.
  3. Place tuna in skillet and sear for 3 minutes on each side. The tuna will still be pink in the center. Set aside.
  4. In a bowl, combine remaining ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over tuna.
  5. Serve over a bed of mixed greens or on its own with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Storage: If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days. The tuna is best enjoyed fresh, but it can still be delicious the next day.
  • Freezing: It’s not recommended to freeze seared tuna as it affects the texture. If you must, wrap it tightly and consume within a month.
  • Pairing: This dish pairs wonderfully with a light salad or grilled vegetables. Consider serving it with a side of quinoa or brown rice for a complete meal.
  • Flavor Twist: Add some sesame seeds or sliced scallions as a garnish for added texture and flavor.
  • Serving Style: Serve the tuna on a large platter for a family-style meal, or plate individually for an elegant presentation at dinner parties.
